We’re sharing some of the top spots for July 4th fireworks in the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia regions. Take note – a few locales are choosing to celebrate the weekend prior, as the 4th falls on a Tuesday this year. Also, some celebrations have no admission price, while some do. Make sure to go to the venue’s website before you go to the event!

National Mall Independence Day Celebration Fireworks

Starting the list in our nation’s capital, the National Park Service organizes a breathtaking fireworks display each year at the National Mall. The fireworks are set off from the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, and the Mall offers a great view of the spectacle.
Plan to head out early, as the whole day will be devoted to celebrating the birth of our nation. Arts and crafts exhibits, big-name concerts, food booths, and one of the city’s largest parades will take place in D.C. You also can listen to a reading of the Declaration of Independence at the National Archives and see the National Symphony Orchestra perform on the west steps of the U.S. Capitol.

Historic Fredericksburg, Va. offers a day-long celebration punctuated by fireworks at 9 p.m. at the Virginia Credit Union Stadium.
Get up bright and early if you want to catch (or run in) the Annual Fallen Heroes 5-Miler Race which starts at 7:30 a.m. The Fourth in Fredericksburg Arts & Crafts Show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. is a rain-or-shine outdoor festival. The festival area will also host food and drink vendors, music, and entertainment activities throughout the day including a Presentation of the Colors at noon, Storytime at the Tavern where costumed interpreters will tell stories of the American Revolution, and more.
