A bit of history: Lovejoy Lofts was formerly an elementary school built in 1901 and named after the prominent newspaper editor and martyred abolitionist, Elijah P. Lovejoy. Mr. Lovejoy died in defense of his right to print antislavery material in the period leading up to the American Civil War. The school was converted to condos in 2005.
